The Indianapolis Colts today signed nine undrafted free agents including: tackle Emmett Cleary, kicker Brandon McManus, running back Dan Moore, running back Denodus O’Bryant, cornerback Sheldon Price, linebacker C.O. Prime, wide receiver Rodrick Rumble, wide receiver Lanear Sampson and cornerback Daxton Swanson. The team also waived running back Alvester Alexander, fullback Robert Hughes and linebacker Shawn Loiseau.

The Indianapolis Colts selected seven players in the 2013 NFL Draft highlighted by four offensive players, including guard Hugh Thornton, center/guard Khaled Holmes, running back Kerwynn Williams and tight end Justice Cunningham to go along with three defensive players, including outside linebacker Bjoern Werner, defensive tackle Montori Hughes and safety John Boyett.

The Indianapolis Colts selected seven players in the 2013 NFL Draft highlighted by four offensive players, including guard Hugh Thornton, center/guard Khaled Holmes, running back Kerwynn Williams and tight end Justice Cunningham to go along with three defensive players, including outside linebacke rBjoern Werner, defensive tackle Montori Hughes and safety John Boyett.

With the first round (24^th overall) selection, the Colts picked outside linebacker Bjoern Werner from Florida State University. Werner was named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Year and was a unanimous All-America first-team selection as a junior in 2012. In his final season with the Seminoles, he started all 14 games and finished 13^th in the nation with 13.0 sacks, while ranking second in the ACC with 18.0 tackles for loss. He also posted 42 tackles (30 solo), eight passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

ANALYSIS
As a sophomore high school exchange student from Germany, Werner wowed his Salisbury (Conn.) teammates and coaches by racking up 12 sacks in eight games. He missed his home country, however, so he moved back to Berlin -– but kept his mind on the game by playing on a national team. Colleges were very happy he returned to Salisbury for his senior season; Florida State and its then-new head coach Jimbo Fisher eventually won the battle to secure his services (over Chip Kelly and Oregon).

It didn't take the already-married Werner long to make an impact in Tallahassee, playing in all 14 games with six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks as a true freshman. He started all 13 games as a sophomore, earning honorable mention All-ACC recognition with 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Werner was good in 2011, but was great in 2012, earning ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors after leading the conference in sacks (13). He also had 42 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 8 passes break-ups. Capitalizing on his productive junior season, Werner decided to forgo his final year at Florida State and enter the 2013 NFL Draft.
