Andrew Luck’s splendid rookie season was resurrected and extended Monday. He will end it by playing in the Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu on Sunday.
Luck was added to the AFC roster as a replacement for New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who withdrew with an unspecified injury. Luck was first alternate at the position.
Luck and Houston’s Matt Schaub will back up starter Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos, whom Luck succeeded as Colts quarterback. Manning will make his 12th Pro Bowl appearance; the first 11 came during his 14 seasons as a Colt, 1998-2011.
Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians has been hired as the Arizona Cardinals' new head coach, the team announced Thursday, shortly after two sources told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport about the deal.
The Cardinals said Arians received a contract for four years, with a team option for a fifth year.
"I never thought it was going to come," Arians said,according to the Cardinals' official website. "I appreciate it so much. I will give it every single thing I have. The passion and energy I bring to this is something I love to do.
"The more I got to meet with everyone here, the more I got excited for the opportunity," Arians added. "I knew it was the right fit for me."
The Indianapolis Colts hired Jimmy Raye as the team’s VP of Football Operations. Raye owns 18 years of NFL experience, including the last 17 with the San Diego Chargers. He served as San Diego’s director of player personnel from 2008-2012, overseeing the team’s professional and college scouting departments while assisting on player personnel matters.
