On Sunday night I had the option of watching two different programs, the NBA All-Star Game or the WWE Elimination Chamber PPV. Since I figured the WWE Superstars would actually put in more effort in their scripted event than the NBA would in their showcase spectacle, I went with the PPV. I wasn't disappointed.
While the Road to Wrestlemania begins at Royal Rumble which takes place in January, the Elimination Chamber is the final stop before the Super Bowl of Wrestling. This is where the final stages of story lines are set into motion, so usually it's a pretty good show. This year, along with The Rock making his return and defending his newly won WWE Title against the former champ, and top bad guy CM Punk, the three main faces of the WWE, Ryback, Sheamus and John Cena had to face a new group of outsiders calling themselves The Shield. Normally in a match like this, these new guys would be fed to the top dogs in what's called a squash match. But not last night. There was a six-man tag match that absolutely stole the show. Mark my words, at least three of these guys are going to be big time players down the road. This has an NWO like feel to it right now, and hopefully will be the beginning of something that can bring back the excitement of the late 90's. Check 'em out...
